Laser Microgage Spindle Alignment Kit Components
The Microgage Spindle Alignment Kit consists of six primary components and arrives in a durable, foam-lined carrying case for easy transport and storage. Each item is easy to set up and use and designed for rugged factory use providing years of dependable service.
Microgage Self-Contained Cylindrical Laser
This laser transmitter is aligned to the mounting post on its back end and can be secured into a chuck, collet, tool holder, or even mounted with an options faceplate. The stainless steel shank on the back of the laser is available in different sizes ranging from 0.5″, 1.0″, and 2.25″.
Microgage Receiver
The receiver has a port that allows the laser beam to enter and is connected to a digital display that shows where the center of the laser beam is falling. The receiver is machined from solid aluminum and can be secured with several different Pinpoint Mounts. The receiver is shown here on a standard Spindle Mount.
Spindle Alignment Receiver Mount
This mount is configured to hold the Microgage Receiver in the center of a spindle, collet, or chuck for alignment measurements. The mount is available with a precision machined shank that is either 0.5″, 0.75″, 1″ or 2.25″ in diameter. This shank is also hollow so that the receiver can be turned around and catch a laser coming through a chuck, spindle, or collet.
Microgage Display
The display unit provides a digital readout showing the position of the laser beam hitting the receiver and its mount. The readings are in English or metric units and can be zeroed for checking relative offsets. The display has a number of adjustable functions so that the Microgage can be adapted to a variety of spindle alignment tasks.
Computer Interface
A simple interface connects the Microgage Display to a laptop or PC for recording measuring readings and running simple alignment calculations. The interface includes Pinpoint’s popular Capture Software and will operate on any Windows platform.
Worksheet & Template
The Spindle Alignment Kit includes a worksheet in spreadsheet form (Windows Excel) that accepts readings from the Microgage system and calculates the spindle offset, runout, parallelism errors, and other useful information to evaluate your equipment and make necessary realignments
